How we can promote our creativity in everyday life

How can we encourage creativity in everyday life again?

Creativity is a valuable skill that helps us solve problems, generate new ideas and improve our quality of life. Often we get stuck in a block and it seems as if new ideas don't want to come and we can no longer be inspired. This blog post presents various strategies and techniques that can help you to develop your creative side and find new inspiration.

Create an inspiring work environment

An inspiring work environment can have a big impact on our creativity. Design your workspace to motivate and inspire you. Add personal items that make you happy and surround yourself with colors and scents that stimulate your senses. Also create enough space for creativity, be it through whiteboards, notebooks or digital tools to capture ideas. Your favorite book in view, a vacation photo that evokes pleasant emotions, your favorite mug, these are small examples of things you can surround yourself with to make you feel good.

Establish a regular creative routine

A regular creative routine can help boost your creativity. Set fixed times or days when you consciously reserve time for creative activities. This can include writing, painting, making music or other creative hobbies. By establishing this routine, you train your brain to think more creatively and encourage the flow of ideas. It doesn't have to result in masterpieces. For example, if you're a color artist, do line exercises to train your muscle memory and when your creativity returns, you'll already be well trained.

Experiment with new creative hobbies

Trying out new creative hobbies can be a great way to expand your creativity. Try activities like photography, cooking, dancing, or crafts. By moving outside your comfort zone and developing new skills, you'll not only boost your creativity, but you'll also discover new passions and interests.

Keep an idea journal to stimulate your creativity

An idea journal is a valuable tool for recording your creative thoughts. Write down ideas, inspirations and observations that come to you in everyday life. This journal can serve as a resource that you can always refer to when you need new ideas or want to be inspired.

Create space for silence and reflection

Sometimes our creativity needs space to breathe. Consciously create moments of silence and reflection in your everyday life. This can mean meditating regularly, taking walks in nature or simply taking time for yourself to sort out your thoughts. These quiet moments can help new ideas to develop and your creativity to blossom. Consciously don't think about how you can promote your creativity, just forget about it for these moments.

Promoting creativity in everyday life requires conscious effort and an open attitude to something new or nothing.

There are many creative minds with ADHD and I know all too well how extremely difficult it is with this disorder to completely empty your head and make room for fresh air. We are always walking on the threshold between "creating a new world" and "I lie down in front of the TV and can't get anything done". But we need the latter to unwind. Especially after weeks of hyper-focused work half the night through. We just have to manage to say: "After this series, we'll continue!" and not click on the next one.
