For over twenty years I have always carried a printout of our flight details in my handbag and another in my suitcase.
During a long day of travel, the first printout from your handbag can easily get damaged, so it's helpful to have the second one in your suitcase.
At the end of the holiday we always have all the details of our flight as a souvenir. Of course I am one of those people who creates a photo book of every new adventure and all the information belongs in it.
As a reminder for everyone who collects air miles: keep your boarding passes safe in case the miles/points/rewards were not recorded at check-in. Then you can have them added to your boarding pass after the trip as proof that you have started the trip.
